IMMIGRATION

We have a long history of association with the fields of Nationality, Immigration and Asylum work. Current members of Chambers hold judicial appointments in the Immigration Appellate Authority and the Tribunal and now in the Asylum and Immigration Tribunal.

 

Our specialist barristers are well known for representing clients in the First Tier Tribunal, Upper Tribunal, Court of Appeal and the European Court of Justice. The work undertaken is diverse and includes asylum appeals, entry clearance appeals (commercial and non-commercial), human rights and detention cases. Counsel are relied upon to provide advice to solicitors at the earliest possible stage of the application/appeal process and have been instrumental in achieving fresh decisions from the Secretary of State in order to avoid the costs of onwards challenges.

DIVORCE AND FINANCES

Aspects of Immigration and Criminal Law feature increasingly in Family cases. Our Immigration team is highly respected in its field and the Family team benefits from members within it who also practise in Immigration. CRIMINAL DEFENCE & EXTRADITION

The Crime Team represents a long history of practice in this field of work both in prosecution and defence. It includes a number of practitioners whose work is exclusively crime. 

Members of chambers undertake a wide range of criminal cases in both the Crown Court and Magistrates Court, ranging from minor offences to the most serious and complex cases.

Those at the senior end are typically engaged in cases involving offences as diverse as murder, sexual abuse, drugs importation and serious fraud.

EMPLOYMENT LAW

Our employment barristers have significant experience across all areas of employment law, with many recognised as leaders at the employment bar in the North of England. We act for employees and a diverse range of employers, SME’s, PLC’s, charities and public sector organisations such as NHS trusts and local authorities.
